Our drive through Glenwood Canyon two hours before the elevated road was closed due to the snowstorm.
The moment I saw these beautiful dendritic opals, I was reminded of our drive through Glenwood Canyon, Colorado. We left at 3am to beat an incoming storm; drove 15mph on the elevated road; and managed to get through two hours before the canyon was closed to vehicles. Anyone who has hurried to Breckenridge, Aspen, Vail, Park City, Tahoe, etc for a weekend of skiing before the roads closed knows this scene all too well.
Details
The dendritic opal is set in a sterling silver bezel, and 24k gold was fused to the fine-silver back plate in the shape of the background mountains, which show through the translucent section of the snowy stone.
